Established in 2002 by volunteers, our organisation has a history and culture of working with volunteers. And at Fairfood’s Communications department you will be working with a young, dynamic, and international team. Our main responsibility at the Communications department is to strengthen our advocacy towards food companies. By communicating Fairfood’s message to our target audience and creating constant public awareness, we encourage companies to shift to more sustainable production processes.

The department consists of 5 projects:
1. E-campaigning
2. Public Relations
3. Website
4. Corporate Identity
5. Land of Promise Campaign

As an E-campaigner you will be responsible for spreading Fairfood’s word on various online platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and LinkedIn. You will have the opportunity to utilise your social media knowledge to get Fairfood’s message across to our stakeholders, create an active community of supporters and generate as much online exposure for Fairfood as possible.

As a Public Relations Officer you will generate media exposure to bring our message to our different target groups. You will be a contact point for local and international (media) partners and journalists. We could also ask you to write or edit texts for press releases or help develop and implement media concepts.

As a junior Website Programmer you work on one of Fairfood’s most important communication tools; www.fairfood.org. You will play an important role in developing and improving the website with regards to technology and technological content. Writing and editing texts could also be part of your job. Furthermore, you will learn and improve Photoshop and video-editing skills.

At Corporate Identity you could either work on the visual and graphics for Fairfood as the Creative designer or as a Copywriter you could be writing and communicating to our stakeholders through texts or by editing existing texts to fit the Fairfood corporate style. You will have a love for language and writing in English. Translations could also be one of your responsibilities. This would be a chance to hone your writing and design skills.

As a project assistant in the Land of Promise Campaign you will be responsible for the communication aspect of the ‘Land Of Promise’ Campaign. Through this campaign we want to motivate companies in the pineapple industry to make their production and trade methods more sustainable. You will work together with the Manager Land of Promise on a variety of communication activities such as: finding partners, composing press releases and managing social media channels concerning the project.

Your key competences
You are studying or have graduated at a higher education institution or university or have already done an internship or work placement, preferably with a focus on journalism or communications. We are looking for someone with excellent writing skills, especially in English. It is also vital that you have an interest in social media.

What do we offer?
This is an unpaid position, which is suitable as an internship or to gain work experience at an international NGO. To create a beneficial relationship for both parties we prefer you work for a minimum of 16 hours a week for a 3-month period.
