Today we celebrate the lives of animals in all their forms.
The Jaguar: on top of the food chain in the Amazon jungle, yet one of the many endangered species. Deforestation has drastically decreased the natural habit of this iconic animal of the Amazon. One of the main causes for deforestation is commercial agriculture. Hundreds of hectares of rainforest are cut or burned in order to plant soy which will then feed the cattle that is eaten in Europe and other parts of the world.
More sustainable methods of farming and a reduction in our consumption of some goods such as meat, fish and animal by-products will have a positive effect on the lives of these great animals, as well as the environment at large, and our health, as some argue.
