Our Supervisory Board ensures that the Executive Director sets out a solid and sound general strategy, and that this strategy is implemented consistently. It is also responsible for the supervision of the Executive Board in managing Fairfood International. This board consists of at least five members, who are non-remunerated and have different backgrounds.
Jolande Sap works as an independent advisor for business and social enterprises on issues of sustainability. She is also the chair of NPHF federation on health. From 2010 to 2012 she was the leader of the Green Left Party (from 2010 to 2012) in the Dutch Parliament. She was a Member of Parliament from 2008 until October 2012, when she left politics. She has worked in various research and leadership positions at both government and private organisations and has a broad experience in issues of social-economic development, finance and equal opportunities. She studied economics and specialized in political economy and philosophy at the Tilburg University. Jolande joined Fairfood’s Supervisory Board on 1 October 2013 and since January 2014 is she the chair person of the Supervisory board.

Rhiannon is the Vice President SC and Member of the GrandVision Management. Over the past 16 years, she has held executive leadership roles within leading multi-national companies in the food and beverage industry. A key focus of her professional career has been on the optimisation of supply chain operations. Rhiannon holds academic degrees in International Politics and Environmental Studies and in Civil and Environmental Engineering, from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She joined the Supervisory Board in 2011, which she chaired in 2013.
Hans is the Executive Director of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy. He has an extensive track record in development cooperation, civil society and politics, having been Director of Development Organisation at ICCO and Director for International Programmes at CNV, among others. Hans holds a law degree from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He joined Fairfood’s Supervisory Board in 2009 and acts as the Vice-Chair since 2013.
Hermen is Chairman of the Stichting Fairbites where he is involved in introducing a fairtrade/organic food brand in the Dutch market. He is also partner at a Dutch sustainable asset management firm. After starting his career at the Development Co-operation Directorate of the OECD in Paris, he has worked in various senior management positions within the financial services industry in the Netherlands. Hermen holds a master degree in development economics from Groningen University. Hermen is a member of Fairfood’s Supervisory Board since 2013.
Maxine is a lawyer by education. She is the owner of CorporateSense, a boutique advisory firm focusing on strategy, governance and strategic stakeholdermanagement in regulated markets. Maxine works in an ecosystem of professionals who share the same belief in sustainability, fairness and transparency. She strongly beliefs in equal rights and opportunities for everyone, and therefore has chosen to spend part of her time on NGO’s who advocate these. Maxine is also member of the Supervisory Board of Farm Zero. Farm Zero provides sustainable, commercial and non-profit agricultural solutions for resource poor countries and communities. Previously she was Director Corporate Development of the Executive Board of EBN B.V., the company participating on behalf of the Dutch State in exploration, production, storage and sale of oil and natural gas. In this role she was responsible for the strategy, business development, legal, communications and public affairs departments of EBN. Maxine’s previous roles include senior legal counsel at N.V. Nuon and attorney-at-law at De Brauw, Blackstone, Westbroek N.V. and Houthoff Buruma N.V. She graduated from Leiden University, holds a postdoctorate degree in EU competition law and attended various Business Programs at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. She Joined the Supervisory Board in September 2014.
