The Fairfood Foundation has its head office in Amsterdam. Its articles were registered by a public notary in 2002. On 1 July 2005, the articles were modified and a Supervisory board was instated. This board supervises the director who is responsible for the daily management of Fairfood International. Fairfood International is registered at the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce under the number 34141098.

Flat organisation structure

Fairfood has a flat organisation structure. It consists of a Supervisory board, a director and five line departments. Along with the five line department managers, the director forms the Management Team responsible for the general policy. Each department is divided into 4 to 6 projects. The line managers guide and assist project leaders who in their turn supervise unpaid project assistants. Supervisory board members do not receive any salary or expense compensation. Quality Assurance and Certifications

We believe that assurance of high quality performance, reliability and continuous improvement are essential for the success of an organization.  These values are reflected in our Code of Conduct. To implement these values in our daily work processes we have established an ongoing Quality Assurance project. Consequently, in 2009 a Quality Management System was introduced to improve internal professional organization, as well as to increase the level of customer satisfaction. Fairfood’s Quality Management System is described in its Quality Policy.

Approvals and certifications

Our Quality Management System follows the requirements of a number of quality standards and complies with Code Wijffels and the ISO 9001 norm.

Code Wijffels

Code Wijffels is the Dutch Good Governance Code for NGOs. The main principle of the Code requires organizations to have separate bodies responsible for supervision, management and operational tasks and duties of the organization. Click here to read more

ISO

Code Wijffels gives guidelines on good governance, however it does not presuppose audits of performance.  For this reason we have also implemented the ISO 9001 standard that has been audited by an external and independent auditor of the British Standards Institution. In 2009 Fairfood’s Quality Management System has been audited and declared to be in compliance with ISO 9001 standard.
