What is Fairfood?
Fairfood is an international non-profit campaign and lobby organisation, which prompts the food and beverage industry to make its production and trade more sustainable. In this way Fairfood contributes to the fight against hunger and poverty across the globe.

Research
The Research department is Fairfood’s centre of knowledge. The department collects and organizes up-to-date information and knowledge concerning global trade and food- and beverage production. The central focus of the department is this research, which leads to Fairfood’s annual shopping guide with products Fairfood advises to buy or not to buy. The department is responsible for five projects: Fairness Criteria, Sector Analysis, Product Analysis, Assurance and Solution Analysis. The projects are led by six paid Project Leaders, each with the help of two to six unpaid Project Assistants.

What are the responsibilities of the Project Assistant Product Analysis?
The Project Product Analysis researches the sustainability of several brand products by sending out questionnaires and manages to give a large amount of brand products a sustainability score. Within the project, brand products are collected and data of brand owners to whom Fairfood sends its questionnaire are gathered. As Project Assistant Product Analysis you will work within a team on the practical execution of this big research project. Within the Project Product Analysis there will be approximately 5000 food products that will be judged on their sustainability in 2009. You will maintain contact with companies, gather research data and results, organize part of the logistics around the actual execution of the project and it will even be possible that you will direct other assistants as well. The judgement on the sustainability of supermarket products will therefore be, for a great deal, in your hands.br/> Your tasks will be, among others:

  • To undertake research on the fairness of food products, especially when it comes to the production process of food in relation to hunger and food security in the world.
  • To take care of the logistic realization of the project.
  • To organize project related activities like the purchase of products and processing the data of these products in our database.
  • To map which products will fall within the research criteria of Fairfood by doing desk research.
  • To take care of all the available means and information in order to do the actual research.
