They have been set up In Switzerland in 1996 as a result of the huge consequences of the increase in soy growing in various countries. The main problems in the soy sector are deforestation and human injustice.
The application of Basel Soy is growing worldwide. Cert-ID, an American certifying agency, has set up a certification standard in which the “Basel Criteria” are incorporated. In Brazil, two large suppliers are already selling certified soy: Imcopa and Caramurú.
