What is Fairfood?
Fairfood is a non-profit campaign and lobby organisation that incites and enables consumers to eat and drink sustainable products. These are products whose production and trade contribute to the eradication of hunger and poverty in developing countries, and to the sustainability of production chains. In short: eat fair, beat hunger.
Research
The Research department is Fairfood’s centre of knowledge. The department collects and organizes up-to-date information and knowledge concerning global trade and food- and beverage production. The central focus of the department is this research, which leads to Fairfood’s annual shopping guide with products Fairfood advises to buy or not to buy. The department is responsible for five projects: Fairness Criteria, Sector Analysis, Product Analysis, Assurance and Solution Analysis. The projects are led by six paid Project Leaders, each with the help of two to six unpaid Project Assistants.
What are the responsibilities of the Project Assistant Solution Analysis?
Fairfood tries to stimulate companies to promote the sustainability of their products. For example by contributing possible solutions to companies for problems that occur on a regular basis in certain production chains. The possible solutions that come forward in chain research will be further investigated for advantages and disadvantages, in order to decide whether they can be used as possible solutions for companies.
As Project Assistant Solution Analysis you will, by means of desk research and conversations with specialists:
- Collect general information regarding a certain solution.
- Describe examples of good practice.
- Make a SWOT-analysis of a solution.
- Write a brief report on the required information.
Immediate tasks for Project Assistants Solutions Analysis
- Researching & analyzing several sustainability initiatives in the Fruit sector. (Such sustainability initiatives may be certification systems or labels, business-driven platforms or sector /industry best practices)
- Preparing comprehensive reports on the identified Fruit sector sustainability initiatives
- Consultations with relevant sustainability experts, organizations and certification bodies involved in sustainable Agro-food industry initiatives
- Updating previously prepared reports on other Agro-food industry sustainability initiatives
- Searching and identifying new relevant Agro-food related sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
- Minimal HBO (higher education) working- and thinking level
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English (Dutch is not required, but a plus)
- Able to work well both independently and within a team
- Affinity with Fairfood’s goals
- Knowledge of development aid and/or the food and beverage industry is an asset
What do we offer?
A versatile position in an enthusiastic and fun team. We do not pay you any wages or allowances. However we offer you a free lunch and reimburse travel expenses.
