CRLS
Centre for Rural Legal Studies (CRLS)
Centre for Legal Rural Studies (CRLS) is a South African based non-governmental organization established in 1991 that strives to ensure an equitable distribution of power in the rural areas of the country. Focusing on both land and labour issues, CRLS promotes the empowering of men and women farm workers through continuous research training on rights, legal support and intervention, dissemination of information, advocacy and facilitation of development.
The activities and projects undertaken by CRLS have been beneficial for the South African rural communities due to their positive impact on the policy formulation and implementation of agricultural labour law, land reform, economic restructuring and rural democratization.
Since April 2010, Fairfood International and CRLS have agreed on a constructive partnership for the facilitation of knowledge sharing with regard to labour developments in the food sector and especially in wine and fruit production chains.
