Kenya Coffee Solidarity Network

Kenya Coffee Solidarity Network (KCSN) was established in the year 2002 to undertake awareness activities in the plantation sector in Kenya, with a special focus on the coffee sector. This is aimed at improving social relations between wage earners, employers, small-scale producers, large plantation owners, exporters and importers. The bottom line is fair trade to all and need for multinationals and other big producers to undertake social responsibility as their concern. Kenya Coffee Solidarity Network has involved itself in the continuous improvement of sustainable production through multi-stakeholder participation.

From the KCSN mission; To bridge the gap between primary and secondary stakeholders with a view of adopting codes of practice that will ensure equitable distribution of market resources; come the objectives which it works on. These include the promotion of  sustainable production, traceability and product identification, the improvement of working relations between employers and employees, stakeholder education on international codes (certification) through workshops/trainings , and advocacy on reforms in policy, trade practices and equity.

The most important thing that Kenya Coffee Solidarity Network wants to see, is greater collaboration with international partners in developing countries so that there is increased global concern towards poverty reduction.

In this light KCSN and Fairfood signed a partnership agreement in April 2010 with the joint objective to develop and share knowledge and information.
