LRS
Labour Research Service (LRS)
The Labour Research Service was established in 1986 as a non-profit labour service organisation. The LRS specialises in research, dialogue-building, and developmental projects with the broad aim of strengthening civil society. LRS is active in building the capacity of workers to bargain collectively and influence decisions regarding their income and living conditions. Some of the projects undertaken by LRS focus on gender equality and increasing the involvement of women in labour movements, building organizational capacity of labour organizations to participate in implementation, and monitoring and improvement of the South African Government’s National HIV/Aids Strategic Plan. The organisation is also involved in campaigning/ campaigning support and research to help workers engage with companies on a strategic level.
Fairfood International collaborates with LRS in strengthening the rights of workers in the (food) supply chains by building knowledge on information already existing in both organizations and their networks.
