Fairfood International and Oxfam Novib cooperate in the fields of business lobbying and influencing public opinion towards sustainability. Fairfood encourages 2,200 food and beverage companies to make their products more sustainable. Fairfood and Oxfam Novib have the shared goal of encouraging the food and beverage industry to increase the level of sustainability of its products.

Examples

A good example of a shared success is the switch of chocolate manufacturer Verkade to using Fairtrade cocoa and sugar in 2008. Oxfam Novib had constructive talks with Verkade for years, while Fairfood encouraged the company to produce more sustainably. Fairfood performed pressure by sending letters and questionnaires, and by organising a succesful media stunt in December 2007.

IMPACT

In November of 2009 Fairfood became a candidate member of the IMPACT alliance. This alliance consists of Oxfam Novib, SOMO, Butterfly Works, 1 % Club and Hirda. The IMPACT-alliance has been awarded funding for five years by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of the MFS II co-financing system. Fairfood International is part of this application.
