Red Puentes

Red Puentes Internacional is an alliance of civil society organizations (CSOs) from eight countries in Iberoamerica, united in the mission to contribute to sustainable development, aware of the need to promote changes for the benefit of harmonising the full implementation of human rights, global sustainability, social and economic justice and the strengthening of democracy. To that effect, Red Puentes Internacionaladvocates social responsibility of businesses, governmental and civil society organizations, in compliance their commitments, from the perspective of civil society.
Growing since 2003, Red Puentes Internacional at present (2010) consists of 43 organizations from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico and Spain, whose trajectories and lines of work are linked to various fields of action. These include: the defence of labour rights and consumer protection, protection of the environment and promoting environmental sustainability policies, gender equality, transparency in government actions and the promotion of civil participation, campaigns against slave labour and human trafficking, and other strategic lines. Through the network of organizations and their experts, within the countries as well as between them, this permits an approach to sustainability from a horizontal and multi-faceted viewpoint.
