Sustainability Institute

The Sustainability Institute is a not for profit trust established in 1999 based at the Lynedoch Eco-village in South Africa. The Institute is a living and learning centre for sustainability offering experience and studies in ecology, community and spirit. With a strong emphasis on the ecological development of communities, the Institute carries out various activities and initiatives that include research and learning for sustainability. Having a close partnership with the University of Stellenbosch, School of Public Management and Planning, the Institute offers a Masters and PhD degree in Sustainable Development Planning and Management, with specialisations in Renewable Energy, Development Planning and Sustainable Agriculture.
Fairfood International and the Sustainability Institute have found common ground in reducing poverty and inequality by promoting sustainable agriculture and food systems and agreed to share knowledge and experiences on good practices regarding sustainable agriculture in food production chains.
